Always great more for less , taste is fresh and very authentic BBQ , Chicken platters are huge, Best picadiho juicy and loaded with meat ship and chorizo. Always my go to ..

Great food at a good price. Portions are big enough for leftovers the next day. I had the chicken and rib combo with veggies. Everything was very good and well seasoned. I think this is a good, healthy, low carb meal for when you don't feel like cooking. I recommend them and will order takeout from them again!
My teenage son and had just finished watching a show at the Avenel Performing Arts Center. We decided to go for a walk to explore Avenel since this was our first time visiting this part of New Jersey. As we were walking we felt hungry and saw a black sign by the side of the road that said, "Avenel BBQ, Churrasqueira, Portuguese Cuisine and decided to check out this low-key Mom and Pop-style Portuguese restaurant. Sofia, the very kind and friendly lady behind the counter welcomed us and all others who entered the restaurant with a warm and sunny huge smile. She took our order of a house salad, pork ribs, red beans in sauce, yellow rice with peas, carrots, cauliflower and black olives as well as chocolate fudge cake. The portions were generous and all the food was absolutely delicious! We are really glad we found this restaurant! In fact, we will definitely return to Avenel BBQ to try their other dishes like their beef ribs and bbq chicken. - Thanks, Sofia, for your hospitality!
Everyone is really polite here. Soups are so good. I've had a few but vegetable soup is my favorite. Platters are very good portion. I opt out for the veggies and salad instead of fries and rice and I do wish they gave more collard greens in the veggies but either way they're yummy. I've ordered the shrimp cakes but they were dried out and not great. I think I'll stay away from those bc I wanted creamy tasty ones but it doesn't take away from my rating unless I do order them again and they taste the same. I ordered a lil late that night. Dressing for the salad is good. I am picky and onky like vinegar and oil and their dressing made the cut. Nice local spot that is family-owned. Support your local businesses.
I ordered from them twice and both times the food and service was on point Portuguese style! The place is small and clean and good for lunch or dinner.
Had the BBQ Ribs which were meaty and outstanding. Ask for their BBQ sauce very good.
A small family owned restaurant in the woodbridge area that specializes in Portuguese style bbq. The staff is very friendly and brings a warm smile when you order at the front. I got a half order of the spicy lovers chicken with rice and veggies. The portion size is excellent for the price of just about 10 bucks. The chicken was seasoned well, crispy and tender but I do wish it was spicier. The veggies and ride were cooked quite nicely to compliment the meal. My friend got a steak sandwich with fries and that portion size was also quite large and very satisfying. I'd come back to try a bit more of the menu whenever I'm around.
Food is good. The service is kind of slow waited over 45 Mins. We had the House Style Picadinho that included pork, beef, shrimp and Portuguese sausage with side of rice and black beans. The rice & beans were delicious. We also had the grilled salmon with Rice and Black beans. The Salmon was a bit dry and had could have more flavor. Overall the food is good. We would definitely be returning. I gave it a 4 stars because the food took a really long time to come out and the indoor decor is nothing fancy but it's clean. Don't expect tableside service we had to order at the counter even though a young lady asked us if we were dining in came over to take our order and never returned to take the order.
